Tear it up with The Automatic
Artist: The Automatic
Title: Tear the Signs Down
Label: Armoured Records

The Automatic finally find a use for those geometry lessons

I'll be the first to admit that when Alex Pennie announced he was leaving The Automatic, my interest in the band declined somewhat. As a result, This is a Fix only got the obligatory few listens for review purposes.

But Tear the Signs Down has left me feeling more than a tad guilty of my shunning of such a talented British band.

Almost five years since they signed their first record deal, The Automatic are due to release their third album, Tear the Signs Down, on 08 March. Recorded in their very own Cardiff studios and released on their label, Armoured Records, there's a distinct new vibe with this record.

As the title suggests, this album is all about the album taking control and going in their own direction and it sounds like they've been doing a bit of growing up along the way.

Stand out tracks are new singles Interstate and Run and Hide, each, with a little air of Kaiser Chiefs, will force your toes into tapping. Cannot Be Saved is another top song, which you will find yourself singing along to after the fast few lines - who cares if you haven't quite got the exact lyrics?

All in this album demonstrates a whole new edge to these four musicians, and in particular the maturity of Robin Hawkins' vocals stands out as a dramatic improvement on past albums. I suggest you head over to Spotify or pre-order you copy now.
