The
Wind Blows is the latest single from pop rockers The All-American
Rejects, and it sees them going in an almost 80s power ballad
direction.
The verses talk of angst with a lover, with gentle lyrics
and basic guitar.
Then
the chorus comes in, and it is literally like being in the 80s. Now
this isn’t a bad thing, as the 80s are all in don’t you know?! But this
is more Bangles than Bon Jovi.
However,
compared to their epic singles ‘Swing Swing’, ‘Dirty Little Secret’ and
‘Move Along’, this song is a bit forgettable. I can still remember
hearing Swing Swing for the first time and loving it.
Will I be able to
remember this in 6 years time? I can honestly say I won’t. It’s a
pleasant enough song, but it’s just not the Rejects at their best.
It
gets 3/5.
