| Elliot Minor's new single from second album, Solaris | | THERE'S something about Elliot Minor that makes nearly every song they release sound pretty epic. It's probably down to the striking piano chords, but even if it's not, they've definitely got something special in Electric High.
As the second single from second album Solaris, Electric High has the potential to make or break the band - though this track suggests they're not going to fall from grace any time soon.
Electric High projects a much more mature sound from Elliot Minor, both in terms of song writing and the finished piece. Not unlike the latest material from Take That, the verses are simple and pleasurable, easing you in before you're sucked in for the infectious chorus.
Frontman and songwriter Alex Davies said that the song draws on experiences of making and touring their self-titled first album and the pressures of the of producing a second album.
He said: "I had heard about the pressures of a second album on the songwriter and I can assure you it is true, you have all your life to write your first album and months to write your second.
"Fortunately I had a load of melodies running around my head and lyric ideas that pulled from the changes in my life over the years that Elliot Minor was formed 'til now.
"They come from a place of hope and reaching out for your dreams."
If the material that follows is anything like Electric High, Alex and his band mates deserve to have their dreams realised.
