| Keane's new single, The Lovers Are Losing | | (As published for NERVE* Magazine)
ONCE again Tom Chaplin and the boys launch an attack on the UK’s music charts.
The Lovers Are Losing is the second offering from the Perfect Symmetry album, and is a quintessential Keane track.
As
the title suggests, the lyrics are pretty pessimistic –he claims that
he and the heroine “cling to love like a skidding car clings to a
corner”. Nevertheless Tom Chaplin’s vocals are on top form.
The
intro single bears a striking resemblance to Crystal Ball from the
Under The Iron Sea album – but this track just doesn’t seem to be able
to capture your attention in the same way that its predecessor could.
Not
one of Keane’s best offerings I’m afraid - it doesn’t come close to
reflecting the quality of Perfect Symmetry as an album, but it’s
definitely worth a listen.
