| La Roux's latest offering, I'm Not Your Toy | | IT ACTUALLY HURTS.
Opening with what may be the single worst
sound in the history of pop, La Roux's latest single continues the
downwards slight into awful. In for the Kill was a fine song,
Bulletproof was OK, but nothing spectacular. And now we have this.
If
you've ever heard a La Roux song, you'll know how it goes. Electronic
intro (in this case, one that is bad on the ears), followed by vaguely
"emo" lyrics, a chorus, a breakdown, and another chorus. It would be
entirely possible to reproduce this song with a child's toy piano and
some helium.
However, if you are a La Roux fan, you will probably love this, but questions must be asked if this is all they've got.
P.S.
If you buy the single you get an instrumental track too. Why? It's not
exactly stirring and brilliant. It's sounds like the end credits to a
Channel 4 travel documentary.
