| Skilf's EP, Slow Me Down | | (As published for NERVE* Magazine)
BRIGHTON’s Skilful G takes on the world of hip hop and rap with skill and ease. Clever
rhymes? Check. Good quality production? Check. Passion. Check. Skilf
combines the necessary criteria to form an impressive first hip hop EP.
Title
track Slow Me Down’s intro is reminiscent of the Fresh Prince of
Bel-Air, and the catchy rhythm is complimented by vocals lent by
Michelle Ericsson.
What follows is the rebellious anthem Lemme
See Ya, which celebrates life and would encourage mass crowd
participation in a live environment.
Dead Ender rounds of the EP
by telling the story of Skilf’s life at university, wasting time
messing around instead of doing his dissertation and the struggle to
find a job after as a result. A little bit darker than the other
tracks, but still in keeping with his unique style.
If you’re
interested in seeing Skilf, he is performing with his band
Astro-Physics at The Coalition in Brighton on March 10, and Bull and
Gate in Kentish Town, London on March 19.
