LONDON’S newest export The Supernovas played a packed gig at Penn Central.
The mod-punk group have been gigging together since they were just
16, and frontman Joei Silvester explained that they finally signed to
360 Degree Music in January this year.
Suffering from extreme feedback in the first half of the
performance, the lads overcame the technical issues to perform a
vintage set – akin to the style of 70s favourites The Buzzcocks and The
Jam.
The four-piece worked their cockney charm as they weaved through
their set, winking at members of the audience and performing a number
of their self-penned songs.
Demonstrating that they have something really special during City
of Smoke and Everybody's Fighting, the band then began to wind up their
set. Thanking all those in attendance for their support, The Supernovas
finished with their debut single Ace Face, receiving a warm reception
from the crowd.
The band is currently mixing their debut single in time for release
in May which was recorded in Hampshire, fitting in shows in the South
to widen their fan base.
Drummer Moses Elliot said tonight’s performance in Poole aimed to
promote their music and to show that they don’t want to be “just
another band from London”.
Mingling with the crowd after the show the band chatted to everyone
around them, illustrating that their feet are still firmly on the
ground - let’s hope that the band stay just as genuine when they really
do hit the big time.
