17th November sees the release of Wye Oak’s debut album, If Children, on Affairs Of The Heart records.

Wye Oak comprises of Jenn Wasner and Andy Stack, and their new album brings together folk and alternative classical music with lulling voices and melodious guitar. Tracks I was particularly taken by were Warning and Orchard Fair, as these seem to be the songs that Wye Oak have really injected their energy into, whilst the likes of Archaic Smile and I Don’t Feel Young seem to be lacking that certain je ne sais quoi.

It’s difficult to place this album in any particular genre as Wye Oak’s sound is really something else, but from fans of The Beautiful South to fans of Sigur Rós, this is definitely one to add to the collection.
